Heart Disease & Cholesterol

Heart Disease and Cholesterol

Their is most definitely a link between Heart Disease and Cholesterol…  In fact, the number one thing that anyone can do to stave off heart disease is to watch their cholesterol levels and keep them as low as possible.

Several factors contribute to a higher risk level for heart disease.  These have all been put to the test, extensive clinical and statistical trials have been run on heart disease.  Several factors have been identified that significantly increase the risk for heart disease, coronary failure and heart attack

Researchers define a major risk factor as anything that has been shown to significantly increase the risk of heart and cardiovascular disease.  There are other risks that have also been identified in these clinical and statistical trials but they are not deemed to have significantly increased the risk and are considered to be contributing risk factors.

The one biggest factor or significant risk when it comes to heart disease is cholesterol.  The greater the level of cholesterol in the human body the greater the risk.  If someone has a cholesterol level of 300 mg/dL and another person has a 260 mg/dL then the individual with a 260 mg/dL level is at less risk that the person who is at 300 mg/dL.  Mind you in this example both individuals are at risk, just one is more than the other.
